Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Hidden Hymn (“we”, “us”) is a travel and culture publication. This policy explains what information we collect when you read, subscribe, contact us, or write for us — and how we handle it. We collect as little as we can and sell none of it.

Information we collect

Reading the site requires no account and collects no personal information beyond standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited), kept for security and debugging.

Newsletter — your email address, used solely to send you our editorial dispatches. Nothing else is attached to it.

Contact form — the name, email, and message you submit, used only to respond to you.

Contributor accounts — if you apply to write for us: your name, email, password (stored hashed, never readable by us), profile details you choose to add (bio, avatar, social links), and the content you author. We verify your email with a one-time code.

Cookies

We use only functional cookies: session cookies that keep contributors and editors signed in. They are httpOnly and are not used to track you across the web. We run no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use information

To publish and operate the site, deliver the newsletter you asked for, respond to messages, review contributor applications, and keep the platform secure. That is the full list.

We never sell personal information. We share it only with the infrastructure providers that host the site (servers, email delivery, content delivery network), each bound to process it solely on our behalf.

Editorial audit trail

Administrative and editorial actions (publishing decisions, account approvals) are recorded in an internal audit log for accountability. This log is visible only to site administrators.

Retention

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry. Contributor accounts and their content are kept while the account is active; ask us and we will delete your account. Published articles may remain online with authorship attributed unless you request otherwise.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. Email us and we will act on it promptly. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA, or similar), those rights apply to you and we honour them.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above moves and material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
